Fiber is chopped into 1.5 –5 cm size fiber and compressed into bales. Cut fiber can be used in soil rehabilitation and bioengineering applications owing to its high moisture and air retention capability with more fibrous materials. This can be used as substrate and as mulch.
Using cut fiber in hydro seeding mixtures provides a better medium for seed germination. The coir fiber in the coir mulch provides structural stability to the hydro-mulch mix. General growth is based on the fast water absorption of coir cut fiber. Therefore, coir cut fiber can also be appropriate to be used in outside substrates.
